IFF Board of Directors Authorizes Quarterly Dividend of $0.34 per Share

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 24, 2012-- The Board of Directors of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE: IFF) today authorized a quarterly dividend of $0.34 per share of the Company’s common stock, an increase of $0.03 from the current quarterly dividend of $0.31 per share. The quarterly dividend will be distributed October 3, 2012, to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 19, 2012. In May, 2011, IFF increased its quarterly dividend 15% to $0.31 per share. Since May 2003, including this authorization, IFF has increased its dividend nine times. IFF is committed to a disciplined return of cash to shareholders. Doug Tough, IFF Chairman and CEO, said, “Our history has proven a willingness to return cash to shareholders, and we remain committed to executing this philosophy going forward. We expect to continue to increase our dividend in line with our earnings growth, while investing in attractive growth opportunities.”

AT&T Increases Repurchase Authorization By an Additional 300 Million Shares

Dallas, Texas, July 27, 2012

AT&T Inc.’s Board of Directors today authorized the repurchase of up to 300 million additional shares, representing approximately 5 percent of AT&T shares outstanding, with no expiration date. This authorization is in addition to the 300 million share repurchase authorization approved by the Board of Directors in December 2010.

“This action allows us to continue returning cash to our shareholders through dividends and buybacks while maintaining a strong balance sheet and investing in the future of our business,” said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and chief executive officer.

Under the December 2010 authorization, AT&T had repurchased 143.5 million of its shares for about $4.6 billion through June 30, 2012. Including dividends, the company returned nearly $10 billion to shareholders in the first half of 2012.

株価下落が続いているが、引き続き業績は安定。

メインセグメントのフランスが不振、アフリカなどの新興国がこれを補っている構図。アフリカというブルーオーシャンを開拓したリターンは、思いのほか大きい可能性がある。

欲をいうと、本社機能をフランス以外に置いてくれれば最高。

Dow chemical 2012年2Q決算

今期も売上・利益ともに前年を下回った。もっとも、EPSは前年の水準が高かった反動によるもので、決して水準が低いわけではない。新興国需要がぱっとしない割りに健闘している。

セグメント別の利益を見ると、引き続きアグリが堅調である一方、プラスチックが弱め。

かつて買収したaQuantiveの減損処理に伴い、62億ドルの減益要因があった。この点を除けば、キャッシュフローをみても分かる通り、本業は健闘している。業態がボラタイルなため、買い増しをしようととも思わないが・・・

当社は、10月にwindows8と共にタブレットを発売する。この動向が先行きの注目点。

ドル高が収益の圧迫要因となっているが、為替中立ベースでは成長が続いている。

引き続きアジア、中東、アフリカなどがけん引役。

WalMart Storesは中期的な上昇トレンドへ

既に話題になっているが、ウォルマートの株価上昇がとまらない。

アマゾンなど通販の台頭により、先行き懸念が消えなかったが、リーマンショックですら大した影響も受けず、他を寄せ付けない圧倒的な安定感を示し、EPSは増加を続けてきた。下図に、80年以降のグラフを添付しているが、PERはなお歴史的な安値圏で推移している。

長期投資家としては残念な気もするが、しばらく株価は上昇を続ける可能性が高いだろう。

消費財メーカーへの投資をおこないました

最近、株式への回帰が進み、急速に含み損が減少しています。

7月入り後、Altria、Kimberly Clark、H.J. Heinzへの投資をおこないました。
